TIME

Young horses playing in a snowy field at the Ranch

Time…

Time is something that in today’s world we seem to always be short of. Life is always moving by so quickly, and it is easy to fall into the trap of rushing, finding quick fixes, and taking short cuts.

In the horse world, it can become easy to fall into this way of training as well. When our lives are so fast-paced, we become accustomed to apply it in every sense. Trainers market these techniques as effective, and hide the band-aid equipment and harsh practices in the background. The horse becomes submissive instead of willing, and unable to build the beautiful partnership they are capable of having.

The truth: Horses do not understand this way of thinking. We have to learn to break down so many of our human emotions to be better for the horse. Learning patience over frustration, kindness over force, and presence over distraction.

Cornerstone Ranch’s owner Susan Connell believes in the slow approach. Building confidence on the ground, and trust in the saddle. Susan spends several hours every day working with a number of horses to create happy, healthy, trusty steeds that can take riders of all levels to build lasting relationships and memories.

Take your TIME! The road is much more beautiful when you allow yourself to slow down and enjoy the view.
